BTS Continue to Break Records, and For All The Good Reasons
BTS have achieved a #1 album in the Billboard 200, and a #10 single in the Billboard Hot 100. Following the release of their album, “Love Yourself: Tear”, they’ve become the first Korean act to ever reach such positions in the charts.
Ever wonder why there’s so much love for them? From their carefully articulated lyrics, to the overall approach they’ve taken in their artistry, there are a number of reasons why they’re an inspiration to many. Here, we dive into some of them.

South Korean group BTS can now count “#1 album” and “top 10 single” as some of their many achievements. Their album, “Love Yourself: Tear” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking the first foreign language entry since 2006, and the first entry for a Korean artist.
President of South Korea Moon Jae-in congratulated them, via an official letter posted on social media. “At the very heart of BTS’s outstanding dancing and singing is sincerity. This magical power turns grief into hope and differences into similarity,” reads the letter. “Bangtan, which literally means bulletproof in Korean, was born out of the will to protect teenagers from prejudice and oppression.”
Soon after the #1 album, a #10 single in the Hot 100, with Fake Love. Making them the first ever Korean act to enter the Top 10.
BTS are appreciated by many for their socially-charged and raw, honest lyrics. Tackling subjects from mental health to criticism of the school system, and general political commentary.
What’s more, their music is described as a “comfort” to many. “You give me the best of me, so you’ll give you the best of you” are among the lyrics in their latest album. In that song dedicated to the fans, they attempt to remind listeners of their potential, and encourage them to follow their own dreams.
As member Jungkook put it in a recent press conference, “When you’re tired, and having a hard time, and want to run away from reality, you can open the “door” inside your heart, and there will be a magic shop [name of the song], and when you go in, the 7 of us will be there, waiting to comfort you and give you strength.”
With lyrics that resonate with today’s youth, and a genuine artistry that’s transcending the language barrier, it’s easy to wish nothing but the best for them.
Congratulations to BTS, and may these be few of many more successes to come.
